Mark Appleton, D.P.M.- (résumé)
Dr. Appleton graduated from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1977 and earned a post-graduate certificate in Healthcare Administration and Management at Old Dominion University. He then served for three years as the Sports Medicine Podiatrist for the US Army at the Pentagon in Washington DC. Settling in Fairfax, Virginia, he provided Podiatric medical care as a private practitioner. Later, Dr. Appleton opened the first Multi-Specialty Alternative Clinic in Washington DC. In addition to private practice, Dr. Appleton was the Podiatric provider for the George Washington University Health Plan and an adjunct instructor at GWU Medical School. In 1992 Dr. Appleton co-founded Managed Network Administrators, a health care consulting company, which specialized in managed care. As vice president of professional affairs and director of quality management for MNA, he was responsible for oversight compliance to NCQA standards, physician peer review, physician credentialing, and claims auditing. Dr. Appleton was part of MNA’s contract negotiation team for physician IPAs. Over the years, he has served on the Quality Management Committees of several regional health plans. He is Board Certified in Quality Management, Board Certified in Pain Management. Currently Dr. Appleton is certified in mediation at Virginia Circuit Court level and close to finishing his Virginia Supreme Court Certification. He is currently enrolled in a graduate certificate program for Conflict Resolution for Health Professionals at George Mason University. Dr. Appleton is president of Appleton Healthcare LLC, a multifaceted healthcare consulting company. Kate McDevitt- (résumé) Kathleen McDevitt enrolled as an undergraduate at Virginia Tech in the Fall of 1998 and participated in the 5-year BS/MS program, taking graduate classes during her senior year of undergraduate studies. Kathleen is a three-year president (4-year officer) of the Virginia Tech student chapter of The Association for Women in Computing, and a member of Upsilon Pi Epsilon, among other organizations. In May, 2002 she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, with minors in Mathematics and Creative Writing. Kathleen has been an undergraduate teaching assistant, and both an undergraduate and graduate research assistant. She is expected to complete all requirements for a Master of Science in Computer Science and Applications from Virginia Tech in Summer, 2005. |
